Interesting facts about the YOG:
1. To foster international understanding and encourage athletes to mingle with each other, competitors were randomly teamed up in archery and the modern pentathlon. The former helped Singapore get a bronze medal through the pairing of Abdud Dayyan Jaafar and Turkey's Elif Unsal.
2. Teams made of two men and two women took part in the 4x100 mixed freestyle and 4x100 mixed medley relays in the YOG. Pictured above is Singapore's team for the 4x100 mixed freestyle relay comprising (from left) Cheryl Lim, Amanda Lim, Clement Lim and Aaren Quek.
3. Unlike in other tournaments, the badminton competition had no doubles event, meaning Huang Chao (above) was Singapore's sole representative in the racquet sport.
4. With all participants born in 1995, the U-15 football tournament for both men and women were the youngest age-group in all of FIFA's football competitions.
5. By definition, a pentathlon has five events, fencing, swimming, running, shooting and riding. In the YOG, riding was not competed in, making it a four event sport.
6. The Scape Youth Park was the venue of the first Olympic 3 on 3 basketball game, which was making its debut as an Olympic sport at the YOG.
7. These games were the first time that Team Singapore had representatives in all sports offered in a tournament.
